Indie rock singer/songwriter Mary Bue returns to Duluth

She is a Duluth favorite, indie rock singer/songwriter Mary Bue! Today on Good Morning Northland, Sierra Naess chatted with her about the upcoming shows she has in the Northland.

Minneapolis-based indie rock artist Mary Bue joined us to discuss her latest album, Wildness of Living and Dying, which explores trauma, healing, and personal growth.

The album was inspired by a harrowing experience Mary faced in November 2020, when she was violently carjacked in Minneapolis. “The album deals with trauma and healing,” she shared. “There are natural elements like running through nature, dreams, and relationships. It’s about what we go through in hard times and coming out of that.”

Mary is celebrating the album’s release with a special performance at Duluth’s Sacred Heart Music Center on Friday, March 28th. “It’s such a beautiful space,” she said, excited about performing with her full band and NPR Tiny Desk Concert winner, Galen Lee. “It’s going to be magical.”

Duluth holds a special place in Mary’s heart. “Duluth is one of my heart homes,” she said, recalling her time studying at the University of Minnesota Duluth and getting her musical start at Amazing Grace Cafe.

Tickets for the show are available on Sacred Heart’s website, marybue.com, and at a few local spots. “It’s not sold out yet, so come on by!” she encouraged.
