The great Minnesota get-together is full of food and fun, but it can come with a hefty price tag if you’re not careful! Barry Bigelow from Great Waters Financial stopped by GMN to share tips to help us enjoy the fair while staying within budget.
- Tip #1: Put aside money for the State Fair now
- Tip #2: When you get to the fair, set a spending limit and stick with it.
“For a mom, dad, and a few kids, just admission is over $100, so from there, you’re going to have gas to get down there, you’re going to have food, the stuff you buy, whether it’s a concert or a memento, it’s going to be a lot. Very easily over $500 for just a day of fun at the fair.”
- Tip #3: Factor for inflation; many items will be more expensive than past years.
- Tip #4: Check out the free activities. You can search online ahead of time, or search the fairgrounds during your adventure.
