Nordic Auction gears up for their annual auction at Island Lake Inn

Live auctioning in the Northland

Sold! Forrest Evavold came into Good Morning Northland to talk about his life as an auctioneer. From art, construction equipment, and fine China, Forrest has sold it all.

If you want some fun weekend plans, head to the Island Lake Inn in Duluth for the annual Fall auction. The fun starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th and will run through that evening. Owner of Nordic Auction and second-generation auctioneer, Forrest Evavold, says that he has seen over 1,000 people attend this auction in years past.

Nordic Auction hosts an auction every Thursday at their warehouse, located at 2713 Courtland St. in Duluth. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can drop unwanted items off at the warehouse.

Evavold also mentioned the community impact that this brings locally. “If someone passes away, we come in, we empty the whole home out completely. If someone is moving and they want to liquidate so they can move, we’re there. We sell people’s boats, campers, household furniture, anything you can think of.”

Forrest didn’t always want to pursue auctioneering, he grew up around the business, as his father was the great auctioneer, Stanley Evavold. Stanley taught Forrest the way and eventually, Forrest realized he loved the business.
