Tech Bytes: new Apple safety features

Apple tests out new child safety features in Australia, Google photos to start labeling images modified using AI, and Hallmark offering new greeting cards with digital gift cards.

Apple’s new child safety feature will allow kids to send a report to Apple itself if they are sent photos or videos that include nudity. The feature also shows a pop-up to message an adult or other options. The feature is being tested in Australia.

Google photos will start labeling images that have been modified using AI. A statement will now accompany the image. The app will also specify when a photo contains elements from several different images. The new language will appear in google photos next week.

Hallmarks new greeting cards include a digital gift card inside. The gift card is basically a QR code on the inside flap of the card which can be used for loading and redeeming its value. The recipient has to scratch off a code that they enter into their phone for redemption.
