Tech Bytes: Apple’s Sleep Apnea detection approved by FDA
The FDA approves Apple's sleep apnea detection feature on their Apple Watch line. Tile's latest tracker can now act as a panic button and call emergency services. An ALS patient has become the first to control an Amazon assistant device using their mind.
Apple’s new sleep apnea detection feature gets FDA approval. The feature is designed for the Apple Watch—it tracks breathing disturbances during sleep and alerts users of possible apnea. Experts say only about one-fifth of the 30 million Americans with sleep apnea are diagnosed.
Tile’s new tracker now doubles as a panic button. A triple tap sends SOS alerts to emergency contacts and can even reach emergency services with a Life360 Gold subscription. The new tracker also offers extended Bluetooth range and improved water resistance.
An ALS patient has become the first person in the world to control Amazon’s digital assistant through his thoughts. After getting a brain implant from a startup company, the man was able to control a cursor and turn off a lamp using Alexa.
