In today’s Tech Bytes, a crypto firm claims victory over the government. Ripple Labs was sued by the SEC for securities violations in 2020. It won that case, but the government appealed. Now, the company says the appeal has been dropped, along with a $125 million fine. A spokesperson for the SEC declined to comment. Ripple Labs donated $5 million to President Trump’s inaugural committee.
Next, Google has unveiled the latest version of its budget-friendly phone. The Pixel 9a comes with an upgraded chip and better battery life. It will be available next month for $499, which is $100 less than Apple’s low-end iPhone 16e.
