In today’s Tech Bytes, Facebook is going back to the future. A Friends tab is now available. This feature filters out the myriad of recommendations from Facebook’s algorithms and takes users back to the site’s roots by showing posts from friends and family.
Instacart is now paying shoppers for video. The app is rolling out a new store-view technology that allows eligible workers to earn money by taking videos of store shelves one aisle at a time. Instacart analyzes these videos to help identify what’s available and what’s out of stock. The feature will launch with select retailers in the coming weeks.
Finally, an astronaut aboard the International Space Station has designed a zero-gravity coffee cup. He can sip from the cup as it floats through the air and also smell his brew, which he says is most of the pleasure. It’s much better than the usual serving that comes in a bag with a straw.
