Tech Bytes: FCC investigates nationwide Verizon outage

Verizon suffers a nationwide service outage with over 100,000 customers affected. Video game publisher Epic Games sues Google and Samsung, claiming that Samsung's auto-blocker prevents the download of their games. A new smart door allows for the change of opacity, changing the door from transparent to opaque.

Verizon is apologizing for a widespread outage that affected more than one hundred thousand users early yesterday morning. Some people were left without cellphone service, many of them in major cities like New York, Chicago, and L.A. Service has since been restored, and the FCC is now investigating.

A video game maker is suing Google and Samsung. According to Epic Games, Samsung’s “Auto Blocker” prevents their games from being installed on Samsung devices unless the feature is disabled. Google has not commented on the lawsuit, and Samsung says it “conducts its operations fairly.”

A new smart front door that switches from clear to opaque with just a voice command has been released. The “Feather River Door” can be controlled through the Home Depot’s Hubspace app, a button, or even set on a schedule.
