Tech Bytes: FTC announcing new “Click to cancel” rule

Tech Bytes: FTC enforces Click-To-Cancel rule

The FTC has issued a new rule that requires businesses to make cancelling subscriptions easier, including asking for consent before auto-renewing. Google Flights introduces the cheapest tab, prioritizing budget over layovers and transfers. Amazon premieres their first colored Kindle.

The federal government is making it easier to cancel subscriptions, from gym memberships to streaming services. The “Click-to-Cancel” rule will require businesses to provide a simple way for you to end subscriptions, making it just as easy to cancel as it was to join. This includes obtaining your consent before charging you for auto-renewals.

Google Flights just launched a new “Cheapest” tab to help you find the lowest-priced flights faster. The tab highlights budget options, even if they include long layovers or self-transfers. It’s available now for U.S. flights and will be rolling out globally soon.

Amazon has unveiled its first color Kindle. Amazon introduced the Kindle in 2007, and every device since has had a black-and-white screen. The “ColorSoft Signature Edition” is available for preorder now for $279.
