Tech Bytes: Google Maps releases new feature
In today’s Tech Bytes, an executive order to protect your personal information. President Biden has issued an order to restrict sales of Americans’ personal data to China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The White House says the order targets businesses or individuals who collect health, financial, and other information.
Google Maps is rolling out a new time-saving feature called “glance-able directions”. It displays turn-by- turn directions and real-time ETAs on the lock screen. It also automatically updates the route if the user deviates from the planned path when walking, driving, or biking.
The newsletter platform, Substack, has a new social networking tool. Writers and readers can now exchange direct messages. People you’re connected to can send DM’s straight to your inbox. Other messages will land in a requests folder where they can either be accepted or rejected.
