Tech Bytes: Streaming-service Max cracks down on password sharing

HBO streaming-service Max plans to crackdown on password sharing, as well as teasing a possible price hike for the service. TikTok users can share songs, audiobooks, and podcasts directly from Spotify and Apple Music. Apple announces a fix that will prevent Apple devices from recognizing "Hey, Siri" commands from T.V. ads.

HBO’s streaming service, Max, announced it will start a “soft” crackdown on password sharing in the coming months, with stricter rules arriving next year and in 2026. The company also hinted that a price hike could be expected in the near future.

TikTok has launched a new feature that allows users to post music directly from Spotify and Apple Music. Called “Share to TikTok,” this feature enables music fans to share songs to their feed, stories, or send them to friends through DMs. In addition to music, users can also share podcasts and audiobooks directly.

Apple devices may soon be able to ignore “Hey Siri” commands in TV ads. Siri is sometimes mistakenly triggered by these ads, but Apple TV’s upcoming operating system reportedly includes technology that can distinguish between commands from users and those from advertisements.
