Tech Bytes: Netflix discontinuing basic ad-free plan
In today's Tech Bytes from ABC News: Netflix is discontinuing it's ad-free basic plan, Snapchat is adding new features, and Michigan is building a smart highway.
Netflix is phasing out its cheapest ad-free plan. Existing subscribers of the $11.99 basic tier are starting to receive notifications to switch plans. So far, most of the affected subscribers appear to live in Canada or the UK.
Snapchat is offering new features to personalize accounts. One feature let’s Snapchat Plus subscribers design a personalized house on Snap Map. Another new feature gives users the ability to send Snaps as fast as a tenth of a second.
Michigan is building amercia’s first “smart highway.” A three-mile stretch of I-94 between Ann Arbor and Detroit will be equipped with special sensors and communication equipment. The technology will send information and alerts to newer vehicles.
