In today’s Tech Bytes, President Trump could sign an executive order as soon as today that would allow China to maintain control of TikTok’s algorithm but lease it to an American company, which would hold a minority stake. Trump’s order would extend the deadline he imposed to sell the app or ban it in the U.S. by tomorrow.

New editing tools are coming to YouTube Shorts as it competes against TikTok. Creators will have access to five additional features for short-form videos, including a new video editing timeline. They will also be able to automatically sync their clips to music instead of doing it manually.

Finally, a medical breakthrough for heart patients: the world’s smallest pacemaker. It’s smaller than a grain of rice and can be inserted into the body with a syringe. Engineers at Northwestern say it controls heart pacing through a wireless device on the chest.
