Tech Bytes: Verizon launches satellite messaging
Verizon is next to launch satelite messaging, allowing for users to send emergency messages or their location without cell service. OpenAI reports an increased use in ChatGPT, specifically by a majority of Fortune 500 companies. Apple's sports app updates to new football features.
Verizon is the next service provider to launch satellite messaging. Starting this fall, certain smartphones can send emergency messages or share locations via satellite. Verizon says there won’t be any additional cost for the service.
New evidence of the growing use of chatbots. OpenAI says more than 200 million people use its “ChatGPT” every week—more than double the number reported last November. One reason for the growth is that more than 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies use OpenAI products.
Apple’s sports app is gearing up for football. New this season, fans will be able to see scores and other information about their favorite NFL and college teams from the lock screen. They will also be able to see the ball’s current position on the field.
