Upcoming Red Cross blood drives to support hurricane relief

How Northlanders can help those affected by Hurricane Milton

As Florida recovers from the devastation from Hurricane Milton, Minnesotans are rushing to the sunshine state to help those in need. Dan Williams and Erin Schommer, both members of the American Red Cross, joined Good Morning Northland to discuss how donating blood up north can support recovery efforts in Florida.

Blood drives across the southeast portion of the United States have been canceled due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton ripping through the area. To help ease the ongoing blood shortage, the Executive Director of the regional Red Cross in Duluth, Dan Williams, has planned blood drives across the Twin Ports.

Here’s a list of the local blood drives in the Twin Ports:

  • October 16th from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior
  • October 21st from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m. at Rice Lake Fire Hall
  • October 22nd from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Starbucks outside of the Bluestone Lofts
  • October 22nd from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Iron River Masonic Center

You can schedule an appointment to donate anytime by visiting the Red Cross’s website.
