Dakotah Lindwurm returns to Grandma’s Marathon

Dakotah Lindwurm, two-time Grandma’s Marathon winner, has returned to the northland for this year’s racing events. But this year, she will not be racing the full marathon.

Lindwurm has decided to run this year’s Gary Bjorkland Half Marathon in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“So, Elite athletes on January 1st that email Sarah Culver and they say, you know, I want to be in the half I want to be in the full whatever and I do that just like anybody else and When I emailed her this time though, I said I want to be in the full marathon but if I make the team, please save me a half bib,” said Lindwurm. “So, before I had made the team, I was coming here I was I build my schedule around grandma’s not the other way around.”

If Lindwurm can win the Bjorkland Half marathon, she would be the first person ever to win both the Grandma’s Full and Half marathons. Lindwurm won the Full marathon in both 2021, and 2022. She came close to making it three last year, but came in second behind Lauren Hagans.
