A visit to the Northwoods Witch
Among the shops and restaurants at the Dewitt Seitz Building, you can also find the Northwoods Witch Carolyn Kerns. Her business is called the Village Witch, and she offers just about everything you can imagine.
“I’m here to be like your village witch. We’re here for the healing… and the growth… and the transformation,” Carolyn explains to The Lift. Sometimes that comes by way of a tarot reading.
“Tarot’s kind of like a language. It’s archetypal. It’s pictorial,” she says. She shuffles the cards for you. You’ll split the deck. And while you may be expecting a fun party trick, the cards could take you on a path more congruent with “therapy,” according to Kern.
“If you’re coming in here, you’re probably coming in because something’s going on in your life and you’re looking for some wisdom, and some insight, and some guidance.”
Carolyn also believes that plants have their energies and purposes, and putting them together with intention creates potions. For example, she combines, Rose, Calendula, and Oat Straw to make a potion for abundance.
Oh, and she also does weddings.
To be specific, the Northwoods Witch is a Priestess and Witch. She attended seminary and holds a Masters of Divinity. Now, she is happy to offer people spiritual guidance, “I really love seeing people and lighting them up. I really love offering them that validation that you’re so seen, the world, the universe supports you, wants you to be successful.”
“That makes me super happy.”
