Around Town – May 19, 2023
Events are beginning to pick up as spring is in full swing. Here are a few ideas for what’s happening Around Town.
JDRF Community One Walk
At Malosky Stadium, dozens of people will walk to support those who live with Type One diabetes. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is hosting the Community One Walk. It raises money for research into Type One diabetes. The 5k begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Malosky Stadium on UMD’s campus.
Springtime Gyro Sale
If you need to refuel after the Community One Walk, the sixth annual Springtime Gyro Sale is on at the Twelve Holy Apostles Orthodox Church. It goes from 12-5 p.m. Saturday at the church on E 2nd Street. On top of gyros, there will also be Greek salad, spanakopita, baklava, and more.
Dylan Day in Hibbing
The Duluth Dylan Festival starts on Saturday, and Sunday is Dylan Day in Hibbing, where the singer grew up. Local historians will share hometown stories about Bobby Zimmerman, and musicians will play a lawn concert in front of his childhood home.
Other events happening this weekend:
- RUCK LIFE at Mont du Lac benefiting 23rd Veteran
- Bent Paddle’s Festiversary for their 10th anniversary
