Boat Club Productions brings the thriller ‘Wait Until Dark’ to Fitger’s
Boat Club Productions opens their production of Wait Until Dark October 4th and it runs through October 13th, and it’s a thriller that’s a perfect fit for the month of October.
The story of the play follows a Susan Hendrix, a women who became recently blind and is trying to renavigate her life in her apartment in Greenwich Village, New York City in 1944.
During the play it’s revealed that a big criminal con has been happening around Susan. Boat Club Productions says as the climax builds, Susan discovers that her blindness just might be the key to her escape, but she and her tormentors must wait until dark to play out this classic thriller’s chilling conclusion.
You can find ticket information for ‘Wait Until Dark’ at the Fitger’s Spirit of the North Theatre here.
Director Michael Kraklio takes the audience on a wild ride and he says to come in knowing little to nothing about the play. Thanks to set and scenic designers Jeff Brown and Curtis Phillips and lighting designer Patrick Mulcahy Jr., the audience follows along on the edge of their seats as some of the show’s most suspenseful moments take place almost completely in the dark.
And with the more intimate setting of the Fitger’s Theatre, lead actress Rylee Kuberra says the suspense is amplified. “It’s interesting as an actor because you’re used to having this degree of separation but in this space you definitely can feel a presence and for me it aids my performance. But it is a different feel than when you’re in a larger theater.”
