Casting for a cure at the Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament
World Series-winning, former Twins players Terry Steinbach and Kent Hrbek stopped by The Lift on their way to the Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament.
The events benefits Never Surrender, a non-profit that supports ALS patients and their families.
Fishing is how Hrbek started his involvement with Never Surrender. He said, ‘”We helped Dave Kolquist start this tournament up here. I had a fishing tournament in Minneapolis at the time. After 16 or 17 years of a golf tournament we were doing. Dave came up and wanted know if I wanted to start one up here. 29 years later here we are. “
As of Friday, there is still space for folks to register. Folks will be casting their lines for a cure on Island Lake in Duluth Saturday.
This Summer, Steinbach will be inducted into the Oakland A’s Hall of Fame. “It’s an honor,” he told The Lift. “You got a little speech. We got five of us going in so we don’t have a ton of time, but I mean the emotions of when your standing on the field where I played the majority of my career. It’s going to be overwhelming.”
