Cloquet teacher recaps circumnavigation of Iceland

Cloquet elementary school teacher Kimberly Broman was selected for a National Geographic trip to circumnavigate Iceland.

This past summer, a Cloquet elementary school teacher was among 35 fellows selected for a National Geographic fellows program to circumnavigate Iceland.

Kimberly Broman said Iceland is “stunningly beautiful.”

When she got the phone call with the news that she got in, she says she felt like she was going to faint. It’s a highly selective process.

She was on the trip from Aug. 15-24. She sent postcards to her 2023-24 class, who knew she had the trip coming up over the summer.

Broman encourages other teachers to apply for these types of programs.

“We have many amazing educators in Minnesota, and being able to bring this firsthand experience back, I just feel like it really gave me a new life on teaching,” she said, “and new energy to what I do. And it’s fun. It’s fun to learn new things and to be able to bring that back.”
