DIY gift or stocking tags
Missy Luukonen makes it easy to DIY. She owns The Little Green Bean, where she inspires others to sew, quilt, or craft.
One of her most popular projects around the holidays are DIY gift or stocking tags made from MDF. Luukonen sells them as kits that come with the tag, a customized name, a grommet, a bead, and twine.

Luukonen never imagined The Little Green Bean would become her and her husband’s full-time jobs.
“It really started with me making tote bags out of recycled coffee bean bags for something to do,” she said. “Because I had had a knee surgery, and I get bored real easily. I’m not a good relaxer.”
Burlap was eventually traded for gnomes after her boss at maurices took a trip to New York, saw gnomes everywhere, and told Luukonen she should make some.
“The following fall, I started making these gnomes,” Luukonen said, “and I think it was two years later, I quit my job because the gnomes were so successful that I decided to do this full-time, and we made gnomes for a long, long time. Thousands and thousands of them.”
Now, she primarily focuses on sewing and quilting patterns and still sells DIY wood kits.
