Downtown Duluth wants you to ‘Imagine Downtown’

Downtown Duluth launches a new initiative called 'Imagine Downtown,' to hear from people on what is important with our downtown.

Downtown Duluth is launching an initiative to imagine what the city’s downtown district could look like and how it could serve locals and visitors in the future.

President Kristi Stokes said a small group of Duluth leaders went to Macon, Georgia.

“We just wanted to get an idea how another city looked at their revitalization as well as developing a longer-term vision and plan for their downtown,” Stokes said.

She is hoping for a big turnout at an upcoming vision meeting.

“We envision people, we envision lots of energy, we envision more people living downtown,” Stokes said. “And so we want to hear more of that from our community. And one of the biggest things we say is it’s not just the downtowners or the businesses that make up all of the planning for our downtown. It’s the community.”

The meeting goes from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21 in the DECC Symphony Hall Mezzanine. Mayor Roger Reinert will give some remarks at 5:30.

For folks who can’t attend the meeting, there is a survey available online.
