The Duluth Dylan Festival starts back up May 20 and runs through May 28.
The annual event celebrates Bob Dylan, who was born in Duluth, his career, and local art and music. May 24 is his birthday.
“Amazingly, our native son, one of the most iconic cultural and musical figures is turning 82 and still touring and still making music,” Laura Whitney said.
Whitney says festival organizers are particularly excited to bring some musicians from out of town here too. On the first night of the festival, there’s a Kick Off Party at the Earth Rider Festival Grounds with music from Hard Rain – All Things Dylan.
On Thursday, May 25, there’s an evening with Jeff Slate with Paul Metsa and Sonny Earl Opening. It starts at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Music Center.
“Jeff is both a journalist who’s most recently interviewed Bob Dylan for the Wall Street Journal,” Whitney said. “And he’s a musician.”
