Duluth Playhouse’s ‘Jersey Boys’ bringing the legacy of four underdogs to the stage
Duluth Playhouse is starting off its 2024-2025 theatre season with the musical ‘Jersey Boys’, a musical that tells the story of how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons rose to fame.
The musical opens on September 13th and runs until September 29th and has some of the groups biggest hits.
Every in every show that the Duluth Playhouse does, they take time to recognize one artist a part of the show in their Spotlight on the Artist. For Jersey Boys they chose to highlight Eric Elefson who plays the Four seasons’ Tommy Devito.
Eric says it’s an honor to play a member of the group, and says the cast has been very supportive and welcoming during the process.
And the actor is even finding parallels between his character and his own life. he says, “New Jersey is so close to New York City and it always gets overshadowed by New York City and New York. I grew up in the country and in the rural space and even though I had quick access to the Twin Cities, it was still somewhat in the middle of nowhere in a sense and felt that way definitely growing up. But that didn’t stop Tommy DeVito, that didn’t stop the Jersey Boys, it didn’t stop me from doing things that maybe seemed like outside of possibility.”
The rest of the Four Seasons include Ole Dack as Nick Massi, Jace LeGarde as Bob Gaudio, and Connor Bailey as Frankie Valli, who all bring the story of brotherhood and chosen family to live on stage.
Jace LeGarde says, “To have this chosen family brotherhood friendship kind of vibe is unique and interesting.”
“These guys through a lot,” says Eric Elefson, “If it wasn’t for the support that they bring each other, they wouldn’t be able to make it through all of this.”
