‘For the children:’ Iron Range Earth Fest 2023

Earth Fest on the Iron Range falls right on Earth Day this year.

The event started in 2008 with a church in Mountain Iron. In 2023, it’s getting a new venue: the Iron Trail Motors Event Center. In previous years, they’ve had to spread out between four buildings.

“This year, they’re going to be in the Toyota Arena. Plenty of space,” Earth Fest Coordinator Marlise Riffel said. “Minnesota Power is actually bringing a Chevy Volt and a Tesla Model 3 and bringing them into the arena. And they’re going to have a person who is an expert on electric cars.”

The Iron Range Partnership for Sustainability will have local live music and food from Go Figur’s. There’s a kids room with games, activities, and a STEM experiment. And they’re experimenting with a “Repair Cafe” concept.

Earth Fest goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia. Five featured speakers will also share knowledge.
