For the fifth year, Mike Marcotte has put together a Minnesota and Wisconsin holiday light guide on his Give Me the Mike blog.
“I loved holiday lights as a kid. And I went to a display here in St. Paul that was no longer when I turned into an adult. And I was like, where do I go see holiday lights?” Marcotte said. “So I looked to the newspaper, and I looked to the television, and no one really had a comprehensive guide for where to go see lights in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. So I was like, well, heck. I’ll just start a display guide myself.”
He asked homeowners and other displays to let him know what they have, and he now has 125-150 listed.
“Most light displays, if not all of the light displays, on my website have at least 2,500 lights,” he said. “Some of them go up to Bentleyville, some of the displays in western Wisconsin too, St. Croix Falls and Somerset, Wisconsin. Those have 10-15 million lights at them.”

“I always recommend people go down, scroll down a little bit, because there’s a really cool interactive map. And you can scroll through the map, and it shows every single display that I have listed on there. And it gives you turn-by-turn directions too,” Marcotte said.
People can also see how many lights are at each display by viewing the little number under each pin on the map.
Marcotte said submitting a display is easy on GiveMetheMike.com.
“So please submit your displays, Northland. I would love to list them for free,” he said. “You just have to fill out one quick form, and then I will shoot you a note, and then you can submit a photo or video of your display. Again, completely free to get listed. And that’s it. It’s that easy.”
