How to save money while traveling abroad
Certified Financial Planner Michelle Buria from Choreo shares some money tips that she learned while traveling abroad.
No. 1: Be aware of card transaction fees
Some credit cards can have between 1-3% of a fee when you put something abroad. Which doesn’t seem like much, but those add up over time. Check your credit card to see what fees apply.
No. 2: Currency exchange
You can go to a bank and order the currency of the country that your traveling to, which takes time. You can also exchange currency at the airport, but that is expensive. Michelle says one of the best things to do is use an ATM when you arrive.
No. 3: Dynamic currency conversion
While traveling abroad you will be offered the opportunity pay in the USD. Michelle says this conversion costs more than what your bank would charge you.
No. 4: Travel insurance is worth it when you use it.
