How you can support veteran resilience

The mission of the Veteran Resilience Project is to recognize all the sacrifices that the military makes, and helping veterans thrive in their daily lives.

The Veteran Resilience Project is working to get veterans in the Northland and across the country free mental health therapy.

Jenna Graen is a retired Air Force veteran and now works as the VRP’s Outreach Coordinator. The team is all veterans.

“As a team, we just really believe people all deserve to heal from any kind of trauma that they’ve been through,” Graen said. “We just really want veterans to truly thrive in their daily lives.”

Specifically, they use a form of therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR.

“It’s all neuroscience,” Graen said. “And the reason why that’s the modality of choice is because it’s really been proven to be effective in a short amount of time, so it works really well with veterans.”

The organization has been around since 2015 but recently got a grant to expand further into northern Minnesota.

An event this Friday, Sweat 4 Vets, supports the Veteran Resilience Project. There will be saunas set up from 11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Endion Station.
