Jam and Jelly the striped skunks are the newest residents of the Great Lakes Aquarium.
At two months old, the brothers from the same litter are settling in nicely.
Baby skunks can spray even from a young age, but not these guys. Natalie Riemer of GLA explains, “A lot of people have a negative connotation with skunks. They don’t want them around because, of course, they are smelly.”
“These two are actually de-scented… They do not need the scent gland deterrents because they should not have any threats. “
Skunks eat insects, drubs, roots, and dandelions.
“You can tell that they are young kits and that they’re still exploring.”
