In Otter News: Tundra and Banks are in torpor
Tundra and Banks at the Lake Superior Zoo are official in torpor. What does that mean?
Tundra and Banks are six-year-old Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears who live at the Lake Superior Zoo. Though in the Winter we don’t see much of them as they’ve gone into torpor. Each bears weighs about a 1,000 lbs. in this state, but they’ll emerge from their winter slumber looking a lot thinner.
