‘Is This Magic?’ bringing experimental dance to the NorShor for one night only

‘Is This Magic’, is a experimental dance solo performed by Kayla Schiltgen That’s coming to Duluth for one night only. The experimental dance show is opening at the Lab at the NorShor Theatre Saturday June 29th with a shows at 4:00pm and 7:00pm.

“‘Is This Magic’ is all about tapping in to your truest nature indulging in anti-self curation, radical self acceptance, and love,” says choreographer and Dancer Kayla Schiltgen.

She describes the show as experimental because it’s something different from what Duluth has seen. “It merges screen dance film, with movement improvisation , with something else that feels like expressionism, maybe a little modern dance in there, and lots of experimentation on my own part creating this.”

You can find tickets to ‘Is This Magic’ on Kayla’s website here.

Is this Magic? Coming to the NorShor theater this weekend

Coming to The Lab at the NorShor Theater this weekend is a new, experimental dance show called 'Is This Magic?' The show blends together live performance and screen-dance projections as a way to explore authentic personal expression as a way of self acceptance.

This piece is a nonnarrative piece. Kayla says she likes to place things out of order, so when you watch it it will feel like a montage with moods and feelings that emerged when she created the piece.

Schiltgen says that the intimate space of the Lab is the perfect setting for her show. And she had hoped that she could work with The Duluth Playhouse and the NorShor to rent the space ever since the spot opened.
