Up the Gunflint trail you’ll find the Gunflint Lodge who’s creating a fun way for guests to enjoy the beauty of Gunflint Lake.

Lodge owner John Fredrikson has plowed 6 miles of trails over the lake that goes around the bays and right along the Canadian border.

“Vermont that claims to have the longest in the country and at four and a half miles,” says John, “and I thought, well, we can do that. We can do better than that.”

You can bring your own skates, or you can rent Nordic skates. Those skates are bigger than normal ice skates and help you skate longer and makes the trail less bumpy.

2025 also marks the Gunflint Lodge’s 100th year anniversary.
