Local author publishes first fictional work

Author Marie Zhuikov says the theme of her new book of short stories is based on deceiving appearances.
A local author whose nonfiction short stories have been recognized by the Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards is venturing into the world of fiction.
Marie Zhuikov’s newest work, “The Path of Totality,” was released Tuesday. It’s a collection of “speculative fiction short stories.”
She has a couple upcoming local events:
- Book launch and conversation with Carol Dunbar
- 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18
- Wussow’s Concert Cafe and Zenith Bookstore
- Reading and book signing
- 1-3 p.m. March 1
- Foxes and Fireflies Booksellers
