The smoked fish and meats from Northern Waters Smokehaus reach far and wide. And their sandwiches are ultra popular with Northlanders.
The smokehaus is marking its 25th anniversary this year and will soon have a new location for people to order and eat.
Deli Manager Leif Hinkel says the Cajun Finn has become the shop’s most popular sandwich.
“We’ve already done like over 2,000 since January, and this is our slow season,” Hinkel said. “So that’s our our shining star, really. But all of our fish sandwiches seem to be the most popular.”
The Cajun Finn is made on a Stirato roll with scallion cream cheese, cajun salmon, pepperoncinis, red peppers, and lettuce.
“It has a little spice, but it’s not it’s not too bad,” Hinkel said. “It’s good for us Minnesotans. We like a little bit but can’t really go too hard.”
Northern Waters will soon move from the first floor of the Dewitt Seitz building in Canal Park to the basement space formerly occupied by Amazing Grace.
“No date’s really set, but pretty soon here, we’ll be able to really get in and start construction,” Hinkel said. “A little bittersweet that they left, but it’ll be awesome to be able to have a fully functioning deli and seating. So much seating, inside, outside. They have that beautiful patio out there. Look at the Lift Bridge with your Cajun Finn.”
