Making sure things go right for ‘The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong’

Duluth Playhouse's production of 'The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong' is a show that revolves around the nightmares of actors everywhere. That being, something going wrong on stage.

In this comedy, the challenge is getting the stunts and jokes perfectly right so that they look like they go wrong to the audience. This show’s Spotlight Artist, Agatha Rae Pokrzywinski, is taking on that challenge.

“I have been acting my whole life, but this year has been the first year that I’ve actually got to do some  real physical stuff, violence work on stage. And it’s been so much fun,” she says.

“Alyson [Enderle] and I, have this pretty massive fight at the end. And we had one goal… and that was to  make it very brutal.”

Agatha plays the actress Sandra, who plays Florence Colleymore. It’s an interesting dynamic that all the actors take on in the play. The play is a show within a show, the group of characters are trying to put on the play called ‘Murder and Haversham Manor’. So, you’ll see them refer to one another as the ‘Murder and Haversham Manor’ characters but when things go wrong you’ll see their reactions as the actor characters.
