A new picture book about a chipmunk that stows away on a Great Lakes freighter.
A chipmunk stows away on a Great Lakes freighter in a newly-released children’s book, “Oskar’s Voyage.”
The author, Laurie Purdie Salas, joined the crew of the Paul R. Tregurtha for a voyage that inspired the book.
Kayla Harren also toured a laker to see the ship as a chipmunk might.
The two are hosting a couple of book events in Duluth this week:
- 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bookstore at Fitger’s
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center
The book is available at local bookstores and online.
