David Schauer is the top photographer whose work is shared on Destination Duluth.

Many of his photos fit in the category of “Rail and Sail.”

He got into photography at a young age by watching the ore boats come and go from his childhood home in the Endion neighborhood.

“I’m a little different than your typical landscape photographer in that my primary subject matter are trains and boats,” Schauer said. “And Lake Superior is a wonderful canvas.”
