If you haven’t picked out your costumes out yet, Andrea Jang of Duluth Mom has three things to consider as you shop and plan.
Tip No. 1: Be mindful of sustainability and your budget. You can do this by shopping second hand, exchanging costumes with friends, and making your own costume. If you buy something from a store consider buying PJs that double as a costume.
Tip No. 2: Consider safety. You’ll want to make sure that the costume allows other people to see your child. An on the other hand, you’ll want to make sure the child can see out of the outfit and it is free of any tripping hazard. Then get your layers on. You’ll want to dress for the weather.
Tip No. 3: Consider your neighbors and your community. It’s not always appropriate for to have a costume with blood and gore. You’ll want to skip the weapons. And make sure that your costume is culturally appropriate.
Duluth Mom has a Halloween guide, featuring ways to celebrate. Their online Halloween costume contest starts October 15th.
