Rent summer adventure gear at UMD

There are more than 1,800 pieces of gear that anyone can rent out for summer adventures at UMD’s Rental Center. From tents to wetsuits to kayaks to snowshoes, gear can be rented for a few hours up to 14 days.

“With such a beautiful area, it makes sense to have somewhere where you can rendezvous, get all your gear, and then head north, south, on the lake, out into the woods, wherever,” Rental Center student employee Logan Carlson said.

He said some of the most popular items are the Boundary Waters-ready gear like Duluth Packs, camping stoves, and even fuel. People can also rent tents and tarps. And they don’t have to go far to use them.

“About two blocks away we have the Bagley campsites,” Carlson said. “We offer four reservable campsites, and then we have two walk-in campsites where it’ll be first-come, first-served.”

The Center is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
