Spring cleaning checklist from Tidy Details
Need a little kick start? Kaitlyn Beise has a list of where to start and some bonus items.
Temperatures in the 50s and 60s might be prompting an urge to do some spring cleaning.
Kaitlyn Beise, owner of Tidy Details, shared her checklist for freshening up your home.
- Deep clean and reorganize your refrigerator and pantry: Take everything out and throw away items that are expired or not in good shape.
- Entryway cleanout: Remove heavy winter gear and reintroduce spring gear. Wash and vacuum entry mats and wipe down the walls, baseboards, floor, shelves, and anything else.
- Spray down windows, dust blinds, and wash curtains: Use glass cleaner to clean the interior of windows, remove blinds to dust both sides, and wash all curtains and drapery.
- Keep drains smelling fresh: Beise uses half a cup of baking soda mixed with a 1/4 cup of table salt, followed by a cup of hot white vinegar down each drain. Let it sit for 15 mins and follow with 30 seconds of hot tap water.
- Vacuum furniture and wash all pillow covers: Especially important if you have pets! Hang dry pillow and cushion covers outside if the weather allows.
Bonus checklist for the overachievers:
- Reorganize your junk drawer
- Wet dust the baseboards throughout your home
- Vacuum under furniture and appliances
- Wipe down all kitchen and bathroom cabinetry
- Take apart lighting and dust fixtures
- Remove books, dust shelving, and color coordinate books
