The IRS has hired more people this year so there should be fewer delays than last year in getting responses. This also means more in-person hours at tax assistance centers, increased help for their phone service, and enhanced online chat features.

Michelle says, “They have some pretty fabulous programs. One is a free file program. There’s a volunteer assistance for certain taxpayers. There’s tax counseling for anyone who is 60…. They have some great programs that maybe people aren’t aware of.”
