Ten years ago this summer, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was the thing to do.

In fact, former WDIO Reporter Julie Kruse took the challenge and passed it on to a few of her coworkers. The effort brought in an incredible sum of money.

“One year ago today, the whole ALS Association has raised $1.9 million. And today, standing here, they have done $32 million this year,” Justin Mays said in 2014. “That money that is going to help the patients is just mind boggling.”

In all, the Ice Bucket Challenge ended up garnering $115 million for the ALS Association.
