On Dec. 19, 1972, WDIO aired footage from the Copper Peak ski jump in Ironwood, Mich.
Ski jumping used to be a popular sport among Northlanders.

The jump went out of operation in 1994. It is 469 feet long with a 35-degree slope.
There were also jumps in Cloquet and at Duluth’s Chester Bowl.
