The 2024 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival race kicks off on Saturday, but that didn’t stop the fun at Barker’s Island.

Saturday races start at 8:00am on Barkers Island.

50 teams are participating in Saturday’s race which is celebrating their 20th year, after COVID caused a hiatus in years prior.

This year the festival is raising money for 23rd Veteran. that’s a nonprofit that helps veterans and families when they served. Over the years the festival has helped out the Twin Ports in a major way. Brittney Johnson says, “Since its inception we’ve actually raised $1.3 million dollars, and that money goes right back to our Twin Ports community, which is incredible.”
