It can be beneficial before or after your workout, she says. However, it’s important not to overstretch. It warms up the muscles to prepare your body for exercise or to cool down afterward.
Williams says stretching also increases bloodflow, decreasing chance of injury.
She suggests finding a 10-minute stretching routine paired with a strength training program to implement into a weekly schedule.
