The secret to Hauser’s Superior View Farm’s 116 years of success

Hauser’s Superior View Farm grows through change

Hauser's Superior View Farm has a 116-year history, and they're ready for another year of Apple Fest.

With another year of Bayfield Apple Fest ahead of them, Hauser’s Superior View Farm is having a busy fall season ad usual. The farm has been around since 1908, 2024 is their 116th year of business.

Hauser’s has been in the family all throughout the years. This January the ownership transferred over to Dane Hauser, the now 5th generation owner.

“Yeah, there’s no pressure at all,” says Dane jokingly, “No, it’s actually been good. It’s been a smooth transition. It’s great I get to work with my family year round, my dad, my grandfather.”

Dane’s dad is Jim Hauser, who mentions that even though Dane is the boss, it’s always a group effort when fall rolls around. He says, “I mean, if you have issues or questions, you can always refer back to the oldest to see if you’ve had the problem before because usually there’s always an answer somewhere.”

And being along for so long the Hausers say the secret is to be adaptive. That’s where their hard cider comes into play. Dane came up with the idea and now half of their apple crop is used for the Apfelhaus Cider. The orchard is currently constructing a taproom on the property as well with an opening date yet to be determined.

If you’re checking out Bayfield Apple Fest the orchard says they offer free parking. You can park at their farm and catch a bus to avoid trying to find parking.
