Hayden and Julia Silvers are self-described “weekend warriors” who love traveling the state of Wisconsin. They run the social media account @thatwisconsincouple to share their adventures.

The couple especially loves finding dog-friendly destinations.

Here are their top three summer long weekend destinations:

Bayfield

“The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, if you haven’t been, put it on your bucket list. It’s so beautiful,” Julia said. “And there’s a lot of different ways to explore it.”

They did a sailing trip with All Hands Sailing in Bayfield that they loved.

“I’d say that was definitely the highlight of the Bayfield trip,” Hayden said.” Even if you’ve been on a boat, if you’ve never been on a sailboat, it’s a totally different experience.”

Eagle River

“I love this area because all of the small towns are very close together. So you can kind of bop around a little bit,” Julia said.

She also loved the restaurants and shops in downtown Eagle River.

“One of our favorite restaurants in the state is there,” she said. “It’s called Craftsman American Tavern. And the food is remarkable. They have amazing cocktails. They have a really nice little patio for the warmer months. But just a super – like you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu kind of place.”

And they say it’s only a 30-minute drive to Bond Falls, which is a must-see.

“It’s not that challenging. They have a big parking lot and a short walk down,” Julia said.

“It’s a good spot to get some good photos too. That’s a really cool backdrop for a nice photo shoot as well,” Hayden said.

Baraboo

The Silvers live in Baraboo, and they say the No. 1 attraction is Devil’s Lake State Park.

“We joke that it’s America’s state park because it is busier than a lot of national parks. It gets so many visitors every year. But it’s popular for a reason,” Julia said. “Devil’s Doorway and Balance Rock are iconic rock formations from the glacial time period, and it’s so, so beautiful.”

They also love all the options to eat and drink local. Hayden described Driftless Glenn, a restaurant and distillery, as “the No. 1 date night destination in Baraboo.”

“You can dine on the patio right next to the river, which is pretty cool,” Julia said.
