Tomassoni Tour is one month away

It's the second year that cyclists will ride 30 miles along the Mesabi Trail to raise money for Never Surrender.

The Tomassoni Tour – Cycle for ALS is one month away. Dozens of riders will take to the Mesabi Trail to bike and raise money for Never Surrender.

It’s the second year of the tour, which is named after the late state Sen. David Tomassoni. His son, Dante, is on the board for the event.

“A big part of his career as a senator was helping to diversify the economy on the Iron Range, and tourism was a good way to do that. And so the Mesabi Trail was a big project of his that he pieced together throughout his career,” Dante Tomassoni said.

Cyclists can choose to ride 60 miles or 120 miles, split over two days.

Funds raised before and during the Tomassoni Tour will support ALS research and help patients and their families through Never Surrender. The Tomassoni family leaned on Never Surrender for help, care, and advice.

Dante says the support is a “testament to the ALS community.”

“It’s something that my brother and I, we hold very deep in our hearts as a prideful thing because it shows how much my dad did for the community that people want to honor him through his name,” he said. “And at the same time, it’s a big part of the fight that we want to continue.”

Lift Host Baihly Warfield is biking in the tour and can be supported at neversurrenderinc.org/goto/baihlyonabike.
