The Duluth Community Garden Program’s Vegetable of the Year is corn- which was chosen by nominations during the program’s fall potluck.

Corn was submitted by a volunteer, Anastasia, who helps run the seed sales. She included of the viral video of Tyriq, the corn kid.

“We’re hoping to help educate the community about all the different types of corn. It comes in different colors. It comes in all sorts of different hardness levels if that makes sense,” Haley Diem explains.

“Sweet corn is a really recent genetic evolution- like only since the 1700s.”
